Captive cheetahs at risk from BSE type disease
It has been reported this week that the world’s fastest land animal suffers in captivity from AA amyloidosis, a disease of misshapen proteins somewhat like BSE. Scientists suggest that cheetahs may contract the disease by eating each other’s faecal matter - which contains amyloid proteins - perhaps when they are grooming.
